Your Own Skip's Journey
You have filled your skip and have called us to let us know you want it collected. Our Transport Manager decides which truck will collect your skip.
It is brought back to our MRF at Carlisle where it is weighed and examined as to what type of waste it is.
We decide which area it is tipped in depending on the type of waste.
After tipping it is pre-sorted with a 360 Excavator with a selector grab (mechanical hand) which removes very large items such as mattresses, sofas and beds.
The remaining material is loaded into a huge hopper where it is conveyed up on to the vibrating finger screen which separates the material into 3 sizes 50mm + / 10 - 50mm and 10mm to dust.
The 50mm + is conveyed up on to the Picking station where up to 20 people are employed to manually remove the recyclable materials as they come past. Leaving rubble metal and non recyclables on the belt. These materials pass under a magnet removing all ferrous metals leaving non ferrous to be removed by hand. Then the remaining rubble and lights pass through an air separator which cleans the stone so it can then be fed in to the crusher to create a 6F2 sub base.
The 10 - 50 mm material goes under a magnet which removes any ferrous metal then through an air separation device which splits the heavy stone from the light material. The stone is stockpiled and the small pieces of light materials conveyed to a bunker.
The sub 10mm soil passes under another magnet and is stockpiled for further processing.
